The US Virgin Island of St Croix is 40 miles south of St Thomas and has a population of more than 60,000.

St Croix Virgin Island has long been a quiet agrarian based locale, yet is seeing considerable growth in population and economic activity. The Buccaneer Hotel is the major resort hotel located in Christiansted offering its own golf course.

Christopher Columbus named the island Santa Cruz and landed here in 1493. He was driven off by the aggressive Carib Indians.
